Mantoloking officials have contacted their Lavallette counterparts about having the borough maintain its court in Lavallette’s new municipal complex.
Mantoloking’s court is currently operating at the Brick Township municipal complex and has been since Superstorm Sandy destroyed Mantoloking municipal building.
“They have a need because they’re not yet resolved in how they’re moving forward with their municipal building,” said Lavallette Mayor Walter LaCicero. “They will pay us rent in order to use our court room, much as we did in renting Island Heights court.”
Borough Administrator Christopher Parlow said a “test run” will be held Jan. 21 at 3 p.m. to see how smoothly hosting Mantoloking’s court sessions go.
“We’ll see how it works out, then we will sit down and come up with a price,” Parlow said.
Court staff, including police officers who are required to be on hand for security during municipal court sessions, will be provided by Mantoloking.
