Bum Rogers Crabhouse in South Seaside Park, as well as a number of partnering restaurants and businesses, recently donated $11,200 to four local organizations following their annual Block Party fundraiser.

The restaurant and bar hosted its annual party Sept. 22. Sponsors, including many restaurants who donated food and staff to the event, included the Belvedere Motel, Summer in the Park, Casino Pier, Jersey Rents, Margarita’s, Xina, PJ’s Place, Mike Smith, Three C’s, Sure Wave Solar, The Given Right, Chef Mike’s ABG, Ebby’s, MJ’s and The Parlor. Last week, members of the four organizations benefitting from the celebration received their checks. Bum Rogers donated $2,800 each to the Seaside Park PBA, Berkeley Township PBA, the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company, and A Need We Feed, which provides meals and services to the homeless.

The Block Party was created by Jerry Rotonda, owner of Bum Rogers, and Mike Smith, who at the time was the owner of the Belvedere Motel, as a way to raise money for local first responders.  It grew this year to include A Need We Feed.
