Police are investigating an early morning accident involving a school bus and garbage truck in which one young child suffered a minor injury.

According to Detective Steve Korman, officers responded to Grant Avenue and the Boulevard in reference to a minor motor vehicle accident at that location. The officers arrived to find a Central Regional School Bus had been struck by a Borough of Seaside Heights Garbage Truck. The bus was struck on the rear passenger side bumper area while sitting at a red light at the intersection, heading nothbound on the Boulevard, officers determined.

The bus was found to have a driver and 14 students on board, Korman said. Triboro First Aid Squad transported one 13-year-old male student to Community Medical Center due to a complaint of a minor injury. The accident is being investigated by Ptl. Shane Henderson and is at this time still under investigation, Korman said.
