Bicyclist in Critical Condition Following Ortley Beach Accident

A 23-year-old local woman was flown to a trauma center after her bicycle collided with a car early Saturday, police said.

Shabnamkhon Usmanova, of Seaside Heights, was traveling on her bicycle southbound on Route 35 in Ortley Beach when she was struck by a passing 2006 Mazda M3S operated by Timothy R. Kellers, Jr, 32, of Seaside Heights, according to Toms River police.



Usmanova suffered “multiple injuries” and was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, where she remains in critical condition.

Police say Kellers, who was uninjured, showed no signs of impairment following the 1:04 a.m. crash.

The crash is under investigation by Toms River Traffic Officer PJ Gambardella in conjunction with Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutors Office, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Investigation Unit. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident can call 732-349-0150.
