An injured fisherman was hoisted off a commercial fishing vessel off the Ocean County coastline Wednesday by a U.S. Coast Guard crew from Air Station Atlantic City.

The 49-year-old man had suffered injuries to his right hand, Coast Guard officials said in a statement. The man, who was not identified by name, was a crewmember on board the 77-foot fishing vessel Determination, which was about 70 miles off Barnegat Inlet when the Coast Guard received the call at 9:15 a.m.

A helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, New Jersey, arrived on scene, hoisted the man and transferred him to the regional trauma Center at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City.
